Bobby Beals Presents… Gothic Lore featuring painter, Andrea Peterson
Venue:
The Horseshoe Gallery
Date: May 8, 2026
Time: 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

In this latest body of work, Andrea Peterson explores the intersection of figurative art, the language of tattooing, and the spiritual tether between the human soul and the natural world. Utilizing a diverse range of mediums—including oil on canvas, wood-burned etchings, and mixed-media compositions accented with gold and silver leaf—Peterson crafts a visual narrative rooted in purpose and self-expression.

Deeply influenced by a lifelong study of Greek mythology and other folklore. Peterson’s work is a sanctuary for archetypes and symbolism. Themes of ritualistic reflection and the Phoenix-like embodiment of rebirth permeate the collection, moving through the gallery with the intentionality of sage smoke.

The collection showcases the meticulous detail for which Peterson is known, exemplified in the bold, "collage-style" black and red aesthetics of pieces like Gothic Cowgirl and Rojo. While many works demand close-range intimacy, others surrender their edges to the unbridled "wilds" of abstract expressionism. This intentional shift in scale and focus creates a rhythmic experience for the observer—a back-and-forth movement that transforms the gallery space into a meditative labyrinth. Ultimately, Peterson invites the viewer to lose themselves in the details, only to find themselves changed by the collective whole.

Accompanying the theme of this show, tattoo artist Patrick Joseph will be at the gallery 4-7pm offering flash tattoos inspired by Andrea Peterson.

“Patrick is a tattoo artist based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with six years of experience specializing in blackwork. His style blends fine line precision with bold, graphic elements, drawing inspiration from traditional imagery, sacred imagery, and noir aesthetics. He focuses on creating timeless designs that feel both personal and striking on the skin.”

The show will be installed in The Horseshoe Gallery on Thursday May 7, 2026 and de-installed by Monday May 11, 2026 with hours of operation to be 12pm - 5pm Thursday, May 7, 2026 through Sunday, May 10, 2026 with an opening reception Friday, May 8, 2026.
