Artist statement

Standing on the Cracked Earth of a giant dried up lake bed where you can feel the size of time itself. This is a space where I find a deeper truth, a more authentic self speaks in these moments. Each piece in my current desert collection holds a deep wisdom that pulls the viewer away from everyday worry and draws them into acceptance, forgiveness, and love. My art, just as in nature, aims to remove the abstractions that we sometimes start believing and guide us back to the simple and beautiful objectivity of being human. They are made to remind you of your true greatness and motivate your love for life.

Artist Biography

Jeddadiah Emanuel is a conceptual artist working mainly in wood. He spent his childhood in Benjamin, Utah where he lost his father to suicide. Following a long and wild chapter as a traveling artist for hire, he found his way to the Sonoran desert in 2017. Surrounded by Cholla, Juniper, Swaro, Mesquite, and creosote, he dried out and planted his roots, and was drawn by the spirited nature of wood. He studied both Japanese and American woodworking techniques, and over the next five years crafted a collection of fine furniture and art that utilized traditional methods and minimalist design. Inspired by the desert, the focus of Jeddadiah's work is to soften the sharp edges of life, and in doing so help the viewer relish the splendor and importance of our individual journeys.
